How-to Create Your Own Giphy GIFs to Brand Yourself & Stand Out on Facebook

How-to Create Your Own Giphy GIFs to Brand Yourself & Stand Out on Facebook

In this step-by-step tutorial I wanted to show you how to create your own GIFs using Giphy to brand yourself and stand out on Facebook and the other Social Networks πŸ™‚

This is a really cool way to personalise your GIFs and grab people’s attention at the same time.

Here’s a couple of example GIFs I created recently:

You can add your GIFs in the comments section of Facebook Posts…

You can upload your GIFs and create new posts on Facebook πŸ™‚

And because they are unique and personal to YOU, they’ll make you stand out and grab people’s attention which is CRITICAL to your Social Media Marketing Success!

This Video Will Show You How to Create Your Own GIFs

Here’s The Written Step-by-Step Instructions for This Tutorial

In addition to the above video tutorial, below you will find the written step-by-step instructions for this tutorial πŸ™‚

Step 1: Think of a Scene And a GIF You’d Like to Create.

So, your first step is to think of a scene and a GIF you’d like to create.

What’s the purpose of your GIF and where will you use it in the future?

For mine, I decided I wanted to do something to make people laugh and get the funny side of my personality across πŸ™‚

It was a Friday… so I decided to do a silly dance and add some text saying “It’s Friday, Let’s Party!”…

Step 2: Record a Short 5-15 Second Video Clip

I asked my wife to video me doing my silly dance πŸ™‚

(To be honest she hadn’t got a clue what I was about to do… so when I did it she thought I was crazy πŸ˜‰ then burst out laughing…)

She recorded a 5 second video clip on my Smart Phone.

Step 3: Download Your Video to Your Computer

Next, transfer your video file from your device over to your computer.

I actually used Airdrop as I use a Mac to send my video clip to my computer, but you could easily sync your video with your computer or email it to yourself.

Whatever method you would usually use to get your videos on your computer, that’s fine πŸ™‚

Just get the raw file onto your computer.

Step 4: Upload Your Video Clip to Giphy

OK, so in order to do this… first you need to open up a free Giphy Account which you can do here.

Once you’ve got a Giphy Account, you should go to GIPHY’s GIFMaker Software here.

(The GIFMaker Software allows you to add text and customise your GIF, whereas the regular “Upload” feature doesn’t allow for this.)

Once you’re on the GIF Maker Page…

Click on the “Choose Video” Option which allows you to Trim your video into a GIF then add captions or stickers πŸ™‚

Step 5: Trim Your Video to Make It Shorter

Now your video clip has uploaded, it’s time to TRIM your video to make it shorter and delete any of the bits of the video you don’t need.

Once you’re happy with your video clip, just click the “Continue to Decorate” button

Step 6: Decorate Your GIF

Now it’s time to add some text to your GIF, change the colours to match your brand and JAZZ it up with some cool Styles and Animation πŸ™‚

Then…

Once you’ve made it look good, click on the “Continue to Upload” button at the bottom right of the screen and upload your completed GIF to Giphy πŸ™‚

Step 7: Download Your GIF To Your Computer

Once your GIF has uploaded, you should get redirected to the “Media” page where you can download the file to use on Facebook and Social Media.

If you don’t automatically get redirected to the “Media” page then you can click on the “Media” button on the right of your video.

Then, once you’re on the “Media” page, it’s worth experimenting which each file type, however the one I’ve found that works best is the “Social” option which allows you to download the actual GIF instead of an MP4 video.

When you click the “Download” button, your GIF / File will download to your computer.

(Make sure you then save / move your file to your desktop and give it a name so you can find it later).

Step 8: Upload Your GIF File to Facebook / Social Media as a New Post

The really cool thing about Facebook is that you can upload your GIF either as a New Post, or you can upload it as a Comment under somebody else’s post πŸ™‚

Firstly, let’s upload your new GIF as a new post.

To upload a new Post on Facebook, just go to the “Write Post” option of Facebook, then click the “Upload Photos/Videos”, select your file, add some text and hit “Post”.

Your GIF should then upload and appear on Facebook within just a few minutes πŸ™‚

Step 9: Upload Your GIF File to Facebook / Social Media as a Comment

One other really cool thing you can do is to upload your GIF in the comments section of a Facebook Post πŸ™‚

Loads of people tend to post their favourite GIFs as comments, although they usually do this with other people’s pre-made GIFs instead of their own.

I recommend uploading your own personal GIFs to the comments on various posts to STAND OUT and brand yourself πŸ™‚

So to upload your GIF to the comments section, just hover over the “Attach a photo or video” Camera Icon and click it.

Then select the GIF file on your computer and upload it.

(You can also create a written comment to go along side the GIF which is pretty cool…)

Your GIF should then upload and appear under the post as a comment on Facebook within just a few minutes πŸ™‚

That’s it… you’re done πŸ™‚

Congratulations!

To Wrap Up…

Now…

If you’re going to post your GIF’s and leave personal GIFs as comments often then I strongly recommend you create many different GIFs so you’re not always posting the same one… otherwise it will lose its power!

So, just to wrap up…

Have a go…
