DMs: From Being Sold to Selling – The Role Posture Plays in Messenger Conversations
This morning, I’ve been coaching one of my 1-2-1 clients on Messenger, explaining the concept of posture to her.
(Here’s part of my conversation with her)
She’s been having some difficulties in her Messenger conversations because the people she’s talking to either aren’t interested or are trying to sell her something instead of the other way around.
This usually occurs when YOU are the one initiating contact.
Why?
Think about this for a second… Someone you don’t know DMs you out of the blue and starts bombarding you with questions.
What’s your immediate reaction?
If you’re anything like me, it’s likely something along the lines of,
“Who is this person and what are they trying to sell me?
Suddenly, your guard is up.
You might respond cautiously and with skepticism, or you might just ignore their message altogether.
And that’s exactly what’s happening to you when you reach out to random people and hit them with random questions.
And that’s a problem.
Because you’ll never make sales like that.
So, you need to turn it around and have them come to you first…
And this is where the magic of combining your content with conversations comes into play to boost your sales conversions.
I call this approach SMART SOCIAL.
Now…
Remember the other day when I mentioned Teaser Posts?
I shared an example of one of my clients who had over 200 people commenting to request more info?
Well, that’s attraction marketing in action.
So, think about this…
When someone ASKS you for something you have or have created, suddenly YOU have the posture.
Essentially, you hold the psychological high ground.
They’ve approached you to inquire about what you offer.
Now, when you reach out to them in the DMs, YOU are the one in control of the situation.
And when people engage with your posts, comment, and ask for info, you naturally have more posture.
From there, you can assume the role of a consultant, asking probing questions to uncover their pain points so you can offer solutions and get paid!
Understanding this concept will be a game-changer for you get it
So, instead of chasing, pestering, and annoying people (lower posture), focus on creating content that draws the right people to you (higher posture)…
Then, act as a consultant, figure out their needs, and present your product, service, or opportunity as the solution—BOOM!
You get paid 🙂
Make sense?
